Newcomers don't ask the neighbors. They ask their phones.

Naples runs on word of mouth, for people who have neighbors. New arrivals ask ChatGPT and Google, and those tools name two or three businesses. Here's how to be one of them.

Naples has always run on word of mouth. The club, the dock, the neighbor who's been here twenty years.

That still works, for people who have neighbors.

The seasonal resident in a new condo doesn't know anyone yet. Neither does the family that moved down in August. They need an electrician this week, and they aren't waiting for a dinner party to get a name.

They ask their phone. And more and more, they don't type a search. They ask a question: "Who's the best AC company in North Naples?"

Example · what a newcomer sees

Who's the best AC company in North Naples?

Here are a few well-reviewed options near you:

  1. 1. Company A4.9 stars · reviews mention same-day repairs in North Naples
  2. 2. Company B4.8 stars · lists service areas and prices on its website
  3. 3. Your business?Only if the answer can find you
Illustration, not a real search result. AI assistants typically name two or three businesses instead of a page of links.

AI tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode don't hand back ten blue links. They name two or three businesses and move on.

You're either one of the names or you aren't.

What gets a business named

  • Reviews that say something. "Great service" teaches the machine nothing. "Replaced our pool heater in Pelican Bay the same day" tells it what you do and where.
  • A website that answers questions. Services, neighborhoods served, hours, prices where you can. Written plainly, the way a customer would ask.
  • The same facts everywhere. Name, address and phone that match on Google, Facebook, Yelp and your own site.
  • Signs of life. Recent photos, recent posts, recent replies. Stale reads as closed.

None of this replaces a good reputation. It's how a good reputation reaches people who haven't met you.

Your regulars already know you're the best. The newcomer's phone needs to know it too.
